National Museum of Beirut

The National Museum of Beirut is situated in Beirut. Lebanon. Opened in 1942 after World War 1, this museum is home to more than 100000 objects of archaeological significance that date back to prehistoric periods. Of special note here is are 3800 year old gilded bronze statuette of Phoenician divinity and 3000 year old limestone sarcophagus of a king and some votive gilded bronze statuettes of the same period.

Archaeological Museum of the American University of Beirut

Formed in 1868 AD, the Archaeological Museum of the American University of Beirut is the third oldest museum in the Middle East. It is home to a vast collection of prehistoric and historic artifacts. There’s a gallery displaying the evolution of pottery from the Bronze Age to the Roman era. Also of note, is a prehistoric collection of glass, pottery, coins, jewelry and seals. This museum has also excavated the remains of a 4000 year old fortification and 5000 year old remains of another building in the city.
