Duncan (DUQ) is the heart of the Cowichan Region and the city can be found just off the Trans Canada Highway, about half-way between Victoria and Nanaimo on Vancouver Island. Duncan is named after William Chalmers Duncan of Sarnia, Ontario.

Travel back in time and get to know the history of Cowichan Valley; the museum is filled with amazing exhibits telling you the story of Cowichan Valley. The museum is located inside the 1912 heritage Duncan Train Station on Canada Avenue.

Get to know about the history of the British Columbia’s forest through the exhibits that are both indoor and outdoor. Hop on in the steam locomotive rain that takes you through a lush forest, the train ride is great and is loved by both young and the older ones.

Make way to Somenos Marsh and get to see some exceptional bird, fish and other wildlife and ecosystems. The species that are mostly seen are Canada geese, mallards, wigeons, wood ducks and black-headed grosbeaks. Song birds are the major attraction here and you will also find some owls hiding in the woods, it’s all together a different experience listening to the song birds here.
