Reasons to Book Cheap Hartford Flights

Hartford is the capital of Connecticut. It is one of the oldest cities in the US and is home to the nation's oldest public art museum, its oldest publicly funded park, its oldest continuously published newspaper and its second-oldest secondary school. Hartford shares a part of its boundaries with the nearby education hub Springfield (in Massachusetts) and they together share almost thirty colleges and universities.

Wadsworth Athenaeum

Founded in 1842, the Wadsworth Athenaeum is America's first public art museum. It is situated inside a grand castle-like building flanked by four wings that belong to Tudor Revival and Renaissance Revival architecture. The museum is home to approximately 50,000 objects related to ancient Roman, Greek, and Egyptian art, many paintings from the Renaissance, Baroque, French and American Impressionist eras, 300 year old French porcelains, early American clothing and decorations and early African-American art and numerous other historical artifacts that together span more than 5000 years of world history.

The Mark Twain House & Museum

The Mark Twain House and Museum in Hartford was home to Mark Twain and his family from 1874 to 1891 AD. It is built in the American High Gothic and Victorian Gothic style. Twain wrote most of his works like The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, The Prince and the Pauper, and Adventures of Huckleberry Finn here. This iconic residence-cum-museum was renovated in 1999 and its exterior was restored to red terracotta brick work and purple slate roofs, and its marble floor was re-stenciled.

State Capitol

State Capitol in Hartford is the third capitol building for the State of Connecticut since the American Revolution. Built in 1878 of marble and a gold dome top, it is one of the largest Eastlake style buildings in the country. The State Capitol houses the Connecticut General Assembly, the State Senate, the House of Representatives, and the office of the Governor of the State of Connecticut.
