The capital city of Nicaragua, Managua is located on the southwestern shore of Lake Managua. It is the largest city in the country, and is home to several indigenous tribes absorbed by ethnic and cultural mix of colonial times. Managua is replete with volcanic lagoons, vibrant nightlife, shopping malls, hotels, and restaurants.

Located halfway between Barrio Martha Quezada and the Plaza Monumental on Av Bolivar, Arboretum Nacional boasts over 200 species of plants. A guided tour of the park, allow tourists to explore it. An archaeological site in Managua, Huellas de Acahualinca, boasts fossilized tracks, recording the passage of around 10 people as well as of raccoons, deer, and birds across the muddy shores of Lago de Managua about 6000 years ago. This site was discovered by miners in 1874. Interestingly, these feet were fairly tall around 160 centimeters.
